Grateful for His Love

He knows who he is.

I should call this “gratitude”.

Thankful to the unseen for watching over me,

Loving me,

Looking out for me.

I wish I could see you.

Would I recognize you?

Yes,

My heart would instantly know.

I’ve spent my entire life jealous of other people.

Jealous of their experiences,

Hurt that we never got to have stories of our own.

Always dreaming,

Somewhere,

On somebody’s timeline,

that we’ve at least eaten pizza,

or spent an entire day tapping controllers.

In this lifetime,

We never had “our time” —

but you're still there.

you’re still there.

The question is silenced

and I will have faith.

I’ll struggle,

But I’ll try to do better.

I’m thankful for you.

I’m thankful for her, too.

No matter where time takes us,

We’re still a family.

I love you.
